Dr. Wightman attended the University of Utah for his undergraduate education and proceeded to Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He graduated dental school Cum Laude “With Honors” also receiving awards in oral medicine, oral surgery, oral pathology, and a research award for a study on the relationship between oral care and diabetes control. At Boston University he was invited to join Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society that promotes and recognizes scholarship and character among students of dentistry.
After completion of dental school in Boston, Dr. Wightman joined the United States Air Force and completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In residency he experienced intensive training in implant planning and implant surgery, corrective jaw surgery, tooth extraction, trauma, facial reconstruction, repair of congenital defects, plastic surgery, general surgery, pediatric surgery, and cosmetic facial surgery. Dr. Wightman also completed extensive training in anesthesia techniques, and internal medicine.
Dr. Wightman successfully challenged the prestigious American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of that Board. He also maintains membership in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, and the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons.
As an Air Force officer Dr. Wightman served at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, and at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While at the US Air Force Academy Dr. Wightman was the Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Education for an Advanced General Dentistry Residency.
Dr. Wightman is thrilled to be married to his college sweetheart Lisa. They are the proud parents of four children and as a family they love all the amazing outdoor activities available in the Pacific Northwest. They are avid bikers, runners, water skiers, snow skiers, and can’t get enough hiking, camping, fishing and exploring the most beautiful region in the world.
